Groove Armada claim to have made Will Young sound like John Lennon.

The dance duo have collaborated with the 'Leave Right Now' singer on tracks for their new album 'Black Light' and were amazed at how they were able to alter his vocals to match the late Beatles legend.

Groove Armada star Andy Cato said: "The song we did called 'History' is a kind of Bronski Beat homage.

"I had a few nights out with Will in Ibiza and he's just a brilliant singer, but obviously he does his commercial stuff which isn't exactly what we do. But I found if you treat his voice in a different way and put it in a totally different context, it sounds great.

"We got him to sing in a different way and I put him through the 'John Lennon sound', it's a special machine."

Will is now hoping to team up with Groove Armada - Andy and Tom Findlay - again for his forthcoming solo album and the trio are planning to showcase yet another side to the star, who shot to fame after winning UK TV talent contest 'Pop Idol' in 2002.

Andy told the Daily Star newspaper: "He's asked for some more backing tracks so we'll do that.

"There's all sorts of stuff he can do, I think he could be a George Michael type of recording artist."
