FILE PHOTO** MICKEY ROONEY DIES AT 93 Hollywood veteran MICKEY ROONEY has died, aged 93. The actor passed away on Sunday (06Apr14). The cause of his death has not been released. Rooney's career spanned over nine decades. He started acting as a child and accumulated over 300 credits, including the 16 films he made as America's boy next door, Andy Hardy. In the 1938 film Love Finds Andy Hardy, he starred opposite Judy Garland, who went on to become his frequent co-star. The following year they appeared in the movie musical Babes in Arms, which earned Rooney an Oscar nomination. He accumulated three more Academy Award nominations for his roles in The Human Comedy (1943), The Bold and the Brave (1956) and The Black Stallion (1979). His other film credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, National Velvet, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and Requiem for a Heavyweight. Rooney also had a number of television appearances over the years, and fronted The Mickey Rooney Show in the 1950s and Mickey in the 1960s. In 1981, he won his first Emmy Award for his portrayal of a mentally ill man in TV movie Bill. He also was handed two honorary Oscars in 1938 and 1983, and also won two Golden Globe Awards. Rooney was married eight times. His first wife was legendary actress Ava Gardner. He is survived by his last wife Jan. One of the first tributes posted on Twitter.com on Sunday night (06Apr14) came from Alec Baldwin, who wrote, "An old pal of mine is gone. One of Hollywood's rare gentlemen and a bientot (see you later) to Mickey Rooney." File Photos** TERESA PALMER IS A FIRST-TIME MUM Australian actress TERESA PALMER has given birth to her first child. The Warm Bodies star and her actor husband Mark Webber welcomed a son on Monday night (17Feb14). Palmer took to Instagram.com to share a photo of their new bundle of joy grasping her finger. She added a caption that reads, "Thank you God for blessing us with the most divine gift of our baby son. Introducing Bodhi Rain Palmer born safely, lovingly and naturally last night. 8lbs (pounds) even. "Bodhi means 'Enlightened one' Rain means 'Abundant Blessings From Above' and we chose Palmer as his last name as Mark's son Isaac didn't take his dads name either. Thanks for all the blessings and love everyone" The couple tied the knot in December (13). File Photo*8 * MEAN GIRLS STAR LACEY CHABERT IS A MARRIED WOMAN MEAN GIRLS star LACEY CHABERT has joined the 2014 newlyweds club after exchanging vows with her longtime boyfriend over the holidays. The actress announced the happy news in a tweet on Friday (04Jan14). Chabert wrote, "I'm starting off 2014 as a Mrs! Over the holidays, my best friend & love of my life... we became husband & wife!" The actress' wedding guests included another newlywed, Kaley Cuoco, who married tennis ace Ryan Sweeting on New Year's Eve (31Dec13). Chabert's Christmas and New Year's celebrations were marred by the death of her grandfather. In a tweet on 28 December (13), she wrote, "What a week. Happiest & saddest of times. Ups & downs of life & mysterious way in which they always seem to collide will forever puzzle me." And she later thanked fans for their kind words as she mourned the loss of her elderly relative, adding, "Thank you all so much for the sweet, comforting messages about my grandfather's passing. The Grimm star tied the knot with the Punch Brothers frontman in front of 20 people at Blackberry Farm in Tennessee on Monday (23Dec13). She tells Us Weekly magazine, "It's our favourite place to vacation and one of the best places on earth. (It's) a gorgeous and rustic resort. "We wanted something intimate and earthy, with kick-a** food and wine, and it doesn't get much better than Blackberry where those things are concerned." Coffee's sister, Abbie, officiated the ceremony and Bon Iver guitarist and violinist Rob Moose performed a Bach composition as the bride walked down the aisle. This is the first marriage for both stars, who began dating after meeting through a mutual friend in 2011.
