Good Charlotte rocker Benji Madden has admitted taking a break has allowed him to become a music fan again.
Good Charlotte have become "music fans" again.
The 'Girls and Boys' hitmakers - who are set to release fifth studio album 'Cardiology' in October - revealed having almost two years to make the record was a great experience, as it allowed them to "take a little breather" from the industry.
Guitarist Benji Madden told BANG Showbiz: "We had a little time off with the families and took a step away from everything. Our first record came out exactly ten years ago so it's been a long ride. We kind of grew up in front of everyone and became the band we are, so it's been nice to just take a little breather from putting ourselves out there.
"You can get a little jaded and the break gave us the chance to become music fans again."
The rocker admitted the new record will be much more "inspired" than previous offerings, and will give the band the chance to reconnect with their fan base.
He added: "We always change it up a little bit on every record - on this record what you'll really hear is us being inspired again. You can tell on this one that we love it.
"The main goal above everything - including commercial success - was reconnecting with the fans. The way they really get to know us is through the songs - we just want to let the fans back in."
