Latin superstar Gloria Estefan is proud to have landed a mention in the Guinness World Records after hundreds of students used her song Wepa as the soundtrack for their successful attempt at the world's largest salsa dance.

A total of 1686 participants from Mexican university Itesco, all aged between 19 and 25, danced their way into the record books on 24 March, 2012, but Estefan only found out about the huge achievement on Tuesday (15Jan13) - and she couldn't be more excited.

Taking to her Twitter.com blog, she writes, "G'day, Tweeties! Been in the studio since early but happy 2 read we Wepa'd ourselves into the Guinness Book of World Records (sic)! Yay!"
