Gloria Estefan's music producer husband has set his sights on TV after landing a deal to develop a new drama series aimed at fellow Latinos.
Emilio Estefan, who has also worked with Ricky Martin, Shakira, Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, will create and executive produce the as-yet-untitled project for Fox offshoot 20th Television studios, and the Grammy winner hopes the show will clear up some common "misconceptions" about Hispanic culture.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "The roles Hispanics play has been predictable. A lot of the things they usually have related to Latinos were prostitutes, housekeepers or drug dealers. I feel this will definitely bring a lot of hope and respect to a lot of new generation actors to be able to play any kind of role."
