After wrestling with the question of how to deal with the death of one of the stars of Glee from a drug overdose, series producer and co-creator Ryan Murphy has indicated that, for now, Finn Hudson, the character played by the late Cory Monteith, will die of undisclosed causes. In the episode dealing with Finn's death, Murphy said in an interview with Deadline.com, we are not telling you yet, or maybe not at all, how that character died. ... The idea being, how somebody died is interesting and maybe morbid, but we say very early on in the episode, 'This episode is about a Celebration of that character's life.' If the cause of Finn's death is ever disclosed, Murphy said, it won't be drug-related. (Monteith died on July 13 from a combination of heroin and alcohol.) Murphy said that he and the show's co-producers, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, had decided that we're not going to have him pass from that. The episode will be filmed next week, he said, and is scheduled to air on Fox as the third episode of The Fall season of Glee on October 17, one week before the series is preempted for two weeks by the World Series.
