'Glee' star Charice has been left devastated by the brutal stabbing of her estranged father.

The singer and actress - who rose to worldwide fame after posting videos of her music on YouTube - cancelled a concert in Singapore in order to travel back to her dad Ricky Pempengco's hometown in the Philippines after discovering the 40 year old was stabbed with an ice pick by a drunk man after he bumped into him

Charice, 19, wrote on twitter: "I am very sorry to all my fans from Singapore. I am not going to be there to be part of David Foster and Friends concert. I have to go back to the Philippines as soon as possible to be with my family. I hope you all understand. I love you all and I will see you next year."

In a post that appears to have since been removed, she also wrote: "I loved him and I will still love him. He's still my dad after all."

Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz said the murder appeared to be random and Charice's father and his killer had no previous connection.

Charice joined 'Glee' as foreign exchange student Sunshine Corazon, first auditioning for a role in vocal group New Directions but was last seen singing with rival group Vocal Adrenaline at the Nationals competition in the season two finale.

Co-creator and executive producer Brad Falchuk has not ruled out Sunshine returning to the show in season three.
