Giovanni Ribisi has joined the cast of 'The Gangster Squad'.
The 36-year-old actor - best known for his roles in 'Avatar' and 'Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow' - will star alongside Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin in the movie directed by 'Zombieland' filmmaker Ruben Fleischer.
He will play part of Conway Keeler, a specialist in electronics and wiring who is involved with an elite police squadron who are searching for Sean, playing the role of Mickey Cohen in 1949 Los Angeles.
Will Beal has created The Script, which is being produced by Langley Park Pictures and Lin Pictures, Deadline.com reports.
Anthony Mackie, Michael Pena and Bryan Cranston are also thought to be playing parts in the film, which is expected to have a 2013 release.
Giovanni - who has previously been nominated for a Primetime Emmy - is currently filming 'Ted' and will next be seen in 'The Rum Diary' opposite 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' star Johnny Depp.
