Sixties rockers CREAM split because drummer Ginger Baker couldn't handle how loud the band were, he claims.

The group called it a day at their peak, 36 years ago, amid rumours of rifts within the group comprising Baker, Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce.

But Baker insists their music just got too loud: "From my point, it was the volume.

"It just got louder and louder and louder, and I didn't enjoy it anymore. I asked (Clapton and Bruce) to turn it down, and they wouldn't. That's what finished it for me."
