Gillian Anderson has urged fans to demand a new 'X-Files' movie.
The actress, who starred alongside David Duchovny in the cult classic TV show and two movies, is interested in starring in a third feature film based on the show but thinks fans need to express their interest to movie studio 20th Century Fox in order to make it happen.
She said: ''If it takes fan encouragement to get Fox interested in that then I guess that's what it would be.''
Meanwhile, Duchovny added: ''All the principals are on board. Gillian and I want to do it, so it's really up to 20th Century Fox at this point.''
The duo starred as FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder in the hit sci-fi show between 1993 and 2002, and also reprised their roles on the big screen for 1998's 'The X-Files' and 2008's 'The X-Files: I Want to Believe'.
Show creator and writer Chris Carter previously hinted at ideas for a proposed third film, suggesting it would deal with the aftermath of an ominous day often mentioned in the TV show - December 22, 2012.
He said: ''It's really up to 20th Century Fox, whether they have the will to do it. I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonisation date has passed and that is something we wouldn't ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology.''
Corgan took to Instagram to confirm rumours of new Pumpkins material, saying the first songs could arrive as early as May.
