5 Seconds of Summer are fed up with being compared to My Chemical Romance, even though they have acknowledged the similarities between the bands.

The 37-year-old musician has suggested he will shy away from the Britpop-inspired sound of his debut solo album 'Hesitant Album' - released earlier this year - in favour of embracing the sound of his track 'Get The Gang Together'.
He explained: ''[I have] changed things up again. The stuff I've been writing recently feels a lot more akin to songs like 'Get The Gang Together' - it feels like it's moving in a garage-y, old soul music kind of direction.''

From their early days with 2004’s Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge all the way to 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, My Chemical Romance has made their mark as one of the most influential rock bands in recent memory, and their breakup wasn’t taken lightly. “We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure,” the band said when breaking the news.

You Me At Six and Gerard Way led the winner's at this year's Kerrang! Awards after bagging two trophies each.
You Me At Six and Gerard Way were the top winners at the Relentless Kerrang! Awards 2014 tonight (12.06.14).
The British rock band walked away with two prizes for Best British Band and Best Single for 'Fresh Start Fever', while the former My Chemical Romance frontman, 37, bagged the Kerrang! Hero Award, as well as being named Tweeter Of The Year for the second year running.
Fall Out Boy led the way for the US after they picked up the Best Event prize for their 'Save Rock And Roll Tour', as well as winning the gong for the Best International Band.
