5 Seconds of Summer My Chemical Romance Gerard Way

5 Seconds of Summer are fed up with being compared to My Chemical Romance.

The Australian band have been criticised for the similarities between their new single 'She's Kinda Hot' and My Chemical Romance's 2007 hit 'Teenagers', but while guitarist Michael Clifford has admitted their sound is similar, he insists people are always searching for something to attack them for.

Acknowledging the similarities, he said: ''That's just because of the 12-bar blues.

Gerard Way's Album Features 'old Soul Music'

Gerard Way

Gerard Way's new album will feature ''old soul music.''

The 37-year-old musician has suggested he will shy away from the Britpop-inspired sound of his debut solo album 'Hesitant Album' - released earlier this year - in favour of embracing the sound of his track 'Get The Gang Together'.

He explained: ''[I have] changed things up again. The stuff I've been writing recently feels a lot more akin to songs like 'Get The Gang Together' - it feels like it's moving in a garage-y, old soul music kind of direction.''

Gerard Way's new solo album helped him overcome his battle with depression.

The musician has revealed his morale was at an all time low after his former band released their hit LP 'The Black Parade' and in hindsight he should have quit the group that made him a star.

After the rockers disbanded in March 2013, Gerard returned to music as a form of ''therapy'' and from those initial songwriting sessions his debut solo effort 'Hesitant Alien' was born.

Break ups are usually always messy - especially when you’re a gigantic rock band that has sold millions and millions of records during a twelve year career. My Chemical Romance, who disbanded in early 2013, scored two top ten albums and multiple top ten singles throughout their illustrious career. From their early days with 2004’s Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge all the way to 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, My Chemical Romance has made their mark as one of the most influential rock bands in recent memory, and their breakup wasn’t taken lightly. “We’ve shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure,” the band said when breaking the news.

Gerard Way Blames Relapse For Band Split

Gerard Way My Chemical Romance NME

Rocker Gerard Way instigated My Chemical Romance's split so he could battle his booze demons following a relapse.

The Welcome to the Black Parade hitmakers parted ways in 2013 after 12 years together and they insisted the reason was because they wanted to end on a high.
