Gerard Depardieu, one of the biggest actors in French cinema, was escorted off a plane ready to depart for Dublin on Tuesday evening (16th August 2011) after urinating in the aisle, reports the Associated Press. The actor, best known for his Oscar-nominated performance in Cyrano de Bergerac, had allegedly been drinking and refused to use the toilets provided.
Although City Jet airlines did not name the passenger, an eyewitness confirmed a drunken Depardieu attempted to stand up before the plane took off but was told to sit down. He later shouted, "I want to p*ss, I want to p*ss", before getting up and urinating down the aisle. He was then escorted off the flight and disgruntled passengers were delayed for two hours while a clean-up operation began. The airline tweeted, "As you may have seen on the news, we are busy mopping the floor of one of our planes this morning..." before adding, "We'd also like to remind all passengers that our planes are fully equipped with toilet facilities". The actor is the co-owner of a winery in the Northern Rhone. A keen lover of wine, his products often receive strong reviews.
Gerard Depardieu, who also starred in the hit comedy movie Green Card, was convicted of drunk driving in 1990.
