Hollywood producer Gerald Green and his wife PATRICIA are each facing up to 10 years in prison for attempting to bribe Thai officials to secure a contract to run a Bangkok film festival. Gerald Green, who has more than a dozen producer credits in films including Salvador and the critically-acclaimed Rescue Dawn, was arrested at Los Angeles International airport on Tuesday (18Dec07) after arriving on a flight from Thailand, an FBI spokeswoman confirmed. The 75-year-old and his wife, 52, are charged with paying more than $1.7 million (GBP850,000) in bribes to an unnamed senior Thai government official, to secure the lucrative festival contract and others worth more than $10 million (GBP5 million), according to a statement from the U.S. Justice Department. The Greens own Film Festival Management, a Los Angeles-based company formed in 2003 to bid for the contract to run Bangkok's annual film festival.
