George Michael has confessed he split from his boyfriend, businessman Kenny Goss, over two years ago and claims he has brought ''a lot of joy and a lot of pain'' into his life.
The 48-year-old singer - who earlier this year branded rumours of his separation from partner Kenny were "lies" - still thinks fondly of his businessman ex, but claims he has had a "turbulent" love life in the past which is more than people can appreciate.
Speaking at the opening night of his Symphonica tour at the Prague State Opera House, Czech Republic, last night (22.08.11), he said: "My Battles with substances are well documented and my partner went through similar problems with drink.
"He's brought me a lot of joy and a lot of pain and I'm so sorry things have not worked out but Kenny and I have not been together for two-and-a-half years. The truth is my love life has been a lot more turbulent than I have let on. I'm so sad about my relationship with Kenny."
George - who performed a tribute to Amy Winehouse, who died last month, in his set, a cover of 'Love Is A Losing Game' - also revealed he was very nervous about being the first pop star to perform at the prestigious opera venue.
He said: "It's a very different evening with George Michael. I've got to tell you, I'm s***ing myself."
Although he has separated from 51-year-old Kenny, the pair remain close and were even been seen together in May enjoying dinner at London's Ivy restaurant.
However, rumours of a split between the couple emerged earlier this year when Kenny was said to be tired of life with George - who was convicted of driving under The Influence of cannabis in September 2010 and sentenced to eight weeks behind bars - because of his behaviour.
A source said: "The writing has been on the wall for some time. There are only so many second chances Kenny was prepared to give.
"He's been loyal to George from day one, but that hasn't always been reciprocated."
