George Michael was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving yesterday (14.08.09).

The 46-year-old singer crashed his car into the back of a lorry as he was driving on the A34 road in Berkshire, England, with witnesses claiming was doing over 100 miles per hour.

Onlookers feared George - who only recently got his driving licence back after a two-year ban for drug-driving in 2007 - was dead as he sat dazed in the vehicle for ten minutes.

Shaken lorry driver Lawrie Rowe said: "He must have been doing 100mph. When he got out he couldn't walk straight."

His top-of-the-range Land Rover was a write-off and the 'Careless Whisper' singer was then taken to a nearby police station, where he was questioned by officers for five hours before finally being released without charge.

A police spokeswoman said: "The driver of the Land Rover, a 46-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and taken into police custody. He was later released without charge."

It is not the first time George has been in trouble with police in recent years.

In February 2006, he was cautioned for drug possession after sleeping at the wheel of his car and two months later he hit three parked cars outside his London home.

In May 2006, the singer crashed his car after again falling asleep at the wheel while listening to his iPod and in October of that year he was arrested after police found him unconscious in his vehicle at a junction in London.

He was banned from driving for two years after pleading guilty to driving while unfit through drugs.
