George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson drew inspiration from the child of an old friend as they settled on the name Everest for their newborn daughter.

The Star Wars creator and Hobson welcomed the baby girl via a surrogate on Friday (09Aug13) and the new mum returned to work in her role as a financial contributor to America's CBS network on Wednesday (14Aug13), when she appeared on air to discuss gender income disparity.

During the interview, Tv host Charlie Rose congratuled Hobson and then asked about the origin of the girl's name, to which she replied, "Everest is based on the son of a very close friend, who was a friend of yours too, Charlie."

She did not elaborate on which pal she was referring to.

Everest is the first biological child for Lucas and Hobson, who wed in June (13). Lucas also has three adopted children: Amanda, 32, Katie, 25, and Jett, 20.
