George Lopez, the popular American television host, has had his Tbs talk show cancelled after just two seasons. The network has just announced Lopez will air his final show tomorrow night (11th August 2011), reports E! Online.
The host is yet to issue a statement on the quick-fire cancellation, either formally or on his Twitter account. A spokesman for the cable network explained, "Tbs has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. Tbs has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his hard work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air". Although the show has not recorded huge ratings, the cancellation will shock fans of the television star. Earlier this year, George welcomed Conan O Brien to the network and happily moved his show back to the midnight time slot to accommodate the newcomer. Joining the host for his final show tomorrow will be Raven-symone and comedian Auggie Smith although last-minute additions are now likely.
Despite the cancellation, Lopez is booked to co-host the Alma Awards with Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria on 16th September 2011. He also revealed on Twitter he has another sitcom in the works.
