George Harrison never honoured an IOU he used to buy an electric guitar in his native Liverpool 45 years ago, according to the merchant seaman who sold it to him. The late Beatles legend, who passed away in 2001, is said to have purchased the black Gretsch Duo Jet guitar from IVAN HAYWARD in 1961, but fell $34 (GBP20) short of the $153 (GBP90) asking price. Hayward still holds onto the unfulfilled receipt for the guitar, which was used on Harrison's album, CLOUD NINE.
