George Harrison's doctor has been fined $5,100 (GBP3,000) for speaking out about the former beatle's mental state before his death in November 2001.

Cancer specialist GIL LEDERMAN treated the WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS legend at STATEN ISLAND UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, New York and then spoke to TV and newspapers about his condition.

He was quoted as saying Harrison, then 58, was "not fearful of death", adding the star played for him and gave his son a guitar lesson.

New York's Health Department chiefs have ruled this a breach of confidentiality.
