George Clooney's ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis is fronting a new People For the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) campaign warning of the dangers of leaving dogs in parked cars.
The Italian star asks, "Would you lock your dog in the car while you ran a quick errand?" in the hard-hitting TV spot, in which she wakes up to discover that she has been trapped in a locked car on a summer's day.
Sweating and gasping for air, Canalis struggles to unlock the doors and open the windows until she finally collapses.
She says, "It's very important if you see a dog unattended inside a car that you don't leave the situation. If it's too hot for us, it's definitely too hot for our dogs."
