Gemma Merna says an artificial lawn company has left her dream home 'tarnished' and made her life an 'absolute nightmare' after being declared bankrupt.
Gemma Merna´s bankruptcy has left her in an ''absolute nightmare.''
The 'Hollyoaks' actress was declared bankrupt earlier this week after a disagreement with an artificial lawn company over a disputed bill and she says the three-year court battle has ''tarnished'' her property.
She said: ''What was supposed to be an easy, simple dream garden has turned into £10,000 worth of rubbish.
''We did this for our dogs and now they can't even go outside. It's dirty, disgusting and has become an absolute nightmare.
''It's been traumatic, the garden is still flooded and half our house is ruined now. It's completely tarnished my dream home. We can't say at this time whether we will stay or not.''
The 28-year-old star - who employed lawn company NoMow after she and her husband Ian Minton decided to build their dream home - came home from holiday to find her lawn covered in discoloured water.
She was issued with a bill for £650 to drain the artificial grass - which she initially refused to pay - on top of the £5,000 she´d already been quoted for the job and she says after paying up she assumed her nightmare ordeal was over.
She told the MailOnline: '''We'd paid all the legal fees and been to court, but then they sent debt collectors round with a picture of me. They were big guys and it was an intimidating situation.''
