SEABISCUIT star Gary Stevens is recovering in hospital after falling from a horse in a race at the weekend and damaging his lung.
The jockey, who plays GEORGE WOOLF in the movie, has a collapsed lung after falling in Saturday's (16AUG03) Arlington Million in Illinois, America.
Stevens sustained the injuries when his horse, STORMING HOME, veered out sharply after spooking a few yards before the finishing line, throwing the rider to the turf where he was then stepped on by one of the horses behind.
Stevens, who was carried off the racetrack on a stretcher, is being treated in Chicago, Illinois' North Shore Hospital. He is expected to be released on Wednesday (20AUG03).
Stevens is hoping to be back in action on CANDY RIDE in Sunday's (24AUG03) Pacific Classic race.19/08/2003 09:07
