Horseracing jockey-turned-movie star Gary Stevens has announced his retirement from the sport.
The US sports star, who has racked up more than 5,000 race wins, announced his decision to quit after finishing second in a race at Churchill Downs, Kentucky last weekend (26NOV05).
Stevens played real-life jockey GEORGE WOOLF in the movie SEABISCUIT.
He says, "I've had a wonderful career but it's time to hang it up."
