Gary Barlow has teamed up Britain's Conservative party to launch an American Idol-style contest for schools if the politicians take office in the U.K.'s upcoming election.
The Take That star has teamed up with opposition leader David Cameron to promote School Stars, a music competition which the politician has promised to introduce if he becomes prime minister.
The pair visited a school in Cheshire, north-west England on Friday (16Apr10) to launch the initiative - and Barlow revealed plans to record a duet with the winner of the contest.
He adds, “The past two weeks have been a serious time for David. I hope this has given everyone a smile.”
Voters in the U.K. will go to the polls next month (May10).
