Legendary singing cowboy CHRIS LEDOUX has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 56.

LeDoux, a former world champion bareback rider, became a country music star when he started writing and recording tunes about his rodeo days.

After years of selling cassettes of homemade albums he recorded at rodeo events, LeDoux struck it big in 1992 when he duetted with superfan Garth Brooks on WHATCHA GONNA DO WITH A COWBOY?

He released 36 albums and celebrated career sales of more than five million albums.
