Country superstar Garth Brooks came out of retirement for a rare performance in Texas on Sunday (13FEB05).

The singer, who has recently confessed he's considering a return to playing live, was a surprise guest at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth where he joined pal DAN ROBERTS at a charity concert.

The special event was held to raise cash to purchase medical equipment for a local medical centre.

The machine, an intraoperative MRI, helped saved the life of Roberts' 12-year-old daughter who had a brain tumour removed in 2002.

However, Brooks insisted he's not coming out of retirement permanently, adding, "This is all about Dan Roberts and the daughter that he thought he would lose."
