Mexican heart-throb Gael Garcia Bernal is returning to London to make his major theatrical debut.

The actor, who played Latin American hero ERNESTO 'CHE' GUEVARA in this summer's (04) The Motorcycle Diaries, will tread the boards of the British capital's Almeida Theatre in a translation of FEDERICE GARCIA LORCA's BLOOD WEDDING next Spring (05).

Bernal lived in London several years ago when he studied at the city's prestigious Central School of Speech and Drama.

Director RUFUS NORRIS enthuses, "Gael's got a level of humanity about him that fits the play.

"I met Gael several times and I've always liked he fact that he simply wants to do good work, is totally embarrassed by what he calls the 'fame thing' and hates of idea of being labelled a 'hunk' by celebrity magazines."
