Takers Review

Bad
Loud and very violent (within the limits of a PG-13 rating), this supposedly gritty thriller strains so hard to be sleek and cool that it completely forgets to create believable characters or situations.

Cops Jack and Eddie (Dillon and Hernandez) are on the trail of a fiendishly efficient band of bank robbers made up of brainy, brawny Gordon (Elba) and his well-dressed goons (Brown, Walker, Christensen and Ealy). When former gang member Ghost (Harris) is released from prison, he presents them with a "once-in-a-lifetime job". But they only have five days to prepare, which is less than they're used to. Something seems fishy, but they go ahead with the heist. And sure enough, not only are the cops closing in, but Ghost may betray them.

Bedazzled (2000) Review

Weak
There truly is nothing quite like a Brendan Fraser movie, is there? Encino Man, Dudley Do-Right, Mrs. Winterbourne... these are the films that a generation uses to mark the passage of time.

It's nigh time we added another sparkling gem to the 30-picture oeuvre that is The Brendan Fraser Experience... and that gem is Bedazzled, a limp remake of a 1967 Dudley Moore vehicle -- a Dudley Moore vehicle which was also co-written by Dudley Moore. Black Dog Review

OK
Ah, the days of playing with "big rig" Tonka trucks, dump trucks, cranes, and other metal beasts of burden as a kid. Black Dog may be heinously stupid (Patrick Swayze, fresh out of jail, opts to earn $10,000 to run guns for Meat Loaf), but boy do the memories of crashing those Tonkas through a pile of Hot Wheels come back. No, there's nothing at all of interest here besides some incredible 80,000-pound trucks that jackknife, fall off of cliffs, and explode... but isn't that enough?
