Irish actor Gabriel Byrne always regrets he didn't spend more time getting to know Marlon Brando, especially after learning the late movie legend spoke often about their meeting.

On Australian TV show ENOUGH ROPE last week (ends03JUN05), Byrne recalls his amazement at meeting Brando on the set of USUAL SUSPECTS in 1994.

Byrne says, "He came to the set one night. It's just one of those amazing moments where you just look and you say, 'My God, that's Marlon Brando.' That's the man who changed the way people thought about acting. He shook my hand and asked me what part of Ireland I was from.

"It drove me crazy (hearing Brando talked about our meeting so often). I often wish I had asked him for his autograph, really."
