British rockers Friendly Fires took to the stage in London on Wednesday night (12Dec12) to honour the memory of a friend who committed suicide last month (Nov12).
Drummer Jack Savidge launched an appeal for help finding his missing roommate Adam Connolly, and stars including Skrillex and Florence + The MAChine frontwoman Florence Welch helped raise awareness online.
The search ended in tragedy when the 29 year old's body was found in east London four days after he went missing, and the band subsequently organised a special charity gig to remember their late friend.
The rockers hosted the For Adam gig at London venue Xoyo on Wednesday and proceeds will be donated to the Maytree Respite Centre, an organisation which helps those on the verge of suicide.
In an interview before the gig, Savidge told the Bbc, "(Feeling suicidal is) something you don't have to suffer with alone (sic). There is a great deal of support there, should you seek it out... It was terribly out of character for him (Connolly) to be away (missing). He's a dependable guy... It's great that everyone did all they could. I mean thanks to Florence (Welch), and Skrillex... People we don't know but who were kind enough to do what they can... It (Connolly's death) really felt like it came out of the blue."
