The Friday the 13th remake has broken box office records for horror movies in America with a whopping $42.2 million (£28.1 million) opening weekend take.
The slasher film debuted at number one, toppling romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into You, which fell to two. Liam Neeson thriller Taken came in third.
Isla Fisher's Disney film Confession of a Shopaholic debuted at four with a healthy $15.4 million (£10.2 million) and animated movie Coraline rounded out the new top five in America, giving Dakota Fanning two films in the top 10 - her Push is at 10 in its second week on release.
