Indie bands are preparing to gatecrash a top dance festival this weekend as members of the Ordinary Boys, Franz Ferdinand and Babyshambles take to the decks.

Gatecrasher's Summer Soundsystem festival takes place at Lotherton Hall in Leeds on May 27th and an arena called Teenage Kicks will be given over to the top indie bands.

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty will be joined by Preston from the Ordinary Boys and Paul Thomson from Franz Ferdinand.

Ross and Jaff from The Futureheads will also make an appearance as well as members of Belle And Sebastian.

The arena aims to provide an "edgy" alternative to the standard fare for clubbers, with headline acts like Judge Jules and Dave Pearce headlining the main dance stages.

Pearce's usual selection of club classics will certainly contrast with the Teenage Kicks arena, where the DJs favourite acts include The Smiths, The Jam, The Clash and the Stooges.

Simon Raine, managing director of Gatecrasher, said: "There has always been a unique crossover between the worlds of dance and indie music and we want to celebrate this.

"There is something quite anarchic about members of [the] coolest UK bands becoming DJs, you never know what musical style or sound [they] may come up with."
