Franz Ferdinand have hit out at claims they've undermined their credibility by allowing their hit track TAKE ME OUT to be used in two adverts for Sony's Playstation games console.

The Scottish rockers are helping to promote the American launch of the electronic giant Sony's new portable gaming device with the catchy anthem, which soared to number three in the UK charts in 2004.

But the band are furious US fans have accused them of selling out, when other bands like U2 endorse products without suffering a US backlash.

One fan says, "Why the hell are Franz Ferdinand selling out their art to help sell cr**py electronics for a massive corporation?"

But a band spokesman counters, "Of course it's not selling out. There are plenty of underground groups used on adverts who have sold a fraction of what the group have."
