Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand have written a soccer anthem to support their nation's campaign in the upcoming 2006 WORLD CUP.

The band - who lifted the Breakthrough Award at Sunday's (29AUG04) MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS in Miami, Florida - plan to unveil the track at a charity gig in October (04).

Singer ALEX KAPRANOS says, "We've written what we'd like to be the Scotland 2006 World Cup song and we're gonna debut it at the kids show. It's got three notes and one word…I think everyone can work out what the one word is."

Scotland begin their campaign for a place at the event in Germany next week (8SEP04) when they play their first qualifying group match at home to Slovenia.
