Scots rockers Franz Ferdinand are leading the nominations at this year's (05) NME AWARDS.

The TAKE ME OUT stars are up for Best British Band, Best Live Act, Best Single, Best Video and Best Album at the weekly magazine's annual ceremony, set to take place at London's Hammersmith Palais on 17 February (05).

Troubled band The Libertines followed close behind with four nods and will go head-to-head for the Best New Band trophy with their former bandmate PETE DOHERTY and Babyshambles, who was thrown out of The Libertines because of his drug addiction.

Razorlight, Scissor Sisters and The Streets have all picked up three nominations each.

New York popstars Scissor Sisters will be up against The Killers, KINGS OF LEON, U2 and The Strokes for the coveted Best International Band gong.
