Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand are convinced their huge success is down to the creative freedom their record company has given them.

In the space of a year the band have shot to the top of the UK charts and scored success in the US, winning an AMERICAN MUSIC AWARD and landing three nominations at next February's (05) GRAMMYS.

And frontman Alex Kapranos is grateful to independent label DOMINO for not interfering in Franz Ferdinand's musical direction.

He says, "For it to take off on a world level has been a little overwhelming at times.

"But we've been able to do things on our own terms. We always wanted to write pop songs, play in a pop band and do it out own way and I think we've managed that. There seems to be a whole generation of bands coming along with that attitude, which is a very positive thing."
