OSCAR-winning actress Frances McDormand thinks there is such a dearth of decent female roles around, some male roles should switch gender.
The FARGO star believes most female-oriented movies rely on "girly" cliches, and they should be better written.
She says, "Generally, female characters are written really poorly. I've started reading things and asking about the male characters, whether it's possible to change them to women.
"I just know I don't like movies that have a lot of women in them. They get really sappy. Someone's always singing along to some song with a spoon or a hairbrush; building up each other's confidence and talking about how men do them wrong...
"I don't do that with my women friends."12/11/2003 21:09
