LITTLE WOMEN star Frances Dee has died after suffering a stroke - she was 94.

The actress - who shot to fame in the 1930s - starred alongside some of old Hollywood's biggest names, including Gary Cooper, Ronald Colman and Katharine Hepburn.

Dee had a stroke three weeks ago (FEB04) and passed away on Saturday (06MAR04) in the NORWALK HOSPITAL in Connecticut, with her son PETER McCREA by her side.

Her husband Joel McCrea, who co-starred with her in movies WELLS FARGO and FOUR FACES WEST, passed away in 1990.
