The recent news of Flavor Flav's arrest for domestic battery assault marks another low in a career that's been sinking quicker than his posture after wearing that ridiculous clock for the last 30 years. What happened Flav? From hit singles and sell-out tours, to failed fast food eateries and a violent temper, there really has been a poison going on in his life of late. So where did it go right? And where has it since gone wrong? We chart the rise and fall, of Favor Flav.

1987: Public Enemy's debut LPAfter attracting the attention of Def Jam Records and Rick Rubin in 1986 with their single 'Public Enemy #1', Public Enemy released debut LP 'Yo! Bum Rush The Show' in 1987, going on to Gold in the US and attracting critical acclaim from an audience who wanted harsher, more confrontational lyrical content than what was being delivered by the likes of Run DMC and the Beastie Boys.

1988-1991: The Platinum Years 'Yo! Bum Rush The Show' turned critics heads, but it was the next three albums by the group that really made them mainstream stars. 'It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back', 'Fear Of A Black Planet' and 'Apocalypse 91 . The Empire Strikes Back' all went platinum in the US, with the latter two making the US Billboard top 10.

1991-1993: Trouble with the LawThough Public Enemy were still on top of the music game, Flav found himself in hot water with officials in 1991 after assaulting then-girlfriend Karen Ross and serving 30 days in jail, as well as losing custody of the children he'd had with her. Flav was also suffering from substance abuse problems and, after being jailed for 90 days on shooting his neighbour in 1993, he entered rehab.

1999: Public Enemy Chart wilderness In 1998, Public Enemy's 'He Got Game' entered the US Billboard charts at 26. A companion piece to Spike Lee's film of the same name, the group were to be eclipsed by a new breed of rappers who'd been making a name for themselves through the 90s, including Jay Z, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Busta Rhymes. 'He Got Game' was the last time the group broke the US Top 100 Billboard Charts, with only two subsequent releases breaking the top 200.

2000s: Solo flop and further jail time In 2002 Flav spent nine weeks in jail for driving with a suspended license, picking up numerous parking tickets and repeatedly missing probation meetings. Four years later he released his own album in 2006 - his debut as a solo artist. However, given that he had only ever been a hype man for Public Enemy, it was perhaps unsurprising that this LP met lukewarm reviews and a poor commercial reception. An attempt at a TV career was also attempted in this time, resulting little more in careering from unwatched reality shows to unwatched reality shows.

2011: Flav's Fried Chicken In 2011, Flav gave everyone the surprise news that he was going into the food business, launching the chicken chain Flav's Fried Chicken. A partnership with Nick Cimino however soon went sour, with arguments and missed payments leading to the restaurants shutting down within four months of opening.

2012: Jailed again Yesterday (October 17, 2012) Flav was jailed for domestic battery and felony assault after an argument with his current girlfriend. No one was hurt, but Flav threatened to kill her son with a knife. More time in jail looks likely; is Flav ever going to see the good times again?
