Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne has been taking about the imminent release of the band's film CHRISTMAS ON MARS - which has been seven years in the making.

Despite the lengthy process of the project, Coyne has rebuffed comparisons with Guns N Roses infamous album CHINESE DEMOCRACY, which is finally due for release later this month.

Coyne pointed out that he was nothing like Axl Rose, as he feels he is "nice and fairly normal".

He told BBC 6 Music: "In my defence, that's all they do is make records. It's not like he's trying to make a film while he's making records and stuff. I've done two or three records in between making Christmas on Mars."

The band recorded all the music for the film, which was shot in the back yard of the Coyne's home in Oklahoma.

CHRISTMAS ON MARS will be available as a double disc DVD and CD in a special popcorn box.
