The Western world is so hugely aware of the world around them, that it's hard to imagine someone who's never been a part of society. The six sons of the Angulo family - Mukunda, Narayana, Govinda, Bhagavan, Krisna and Jagadesh - are just those people. Since they were children, they were confined to their home in Manhattan under the rule of their tyrannical father, homeschooled with their sister Visnu and allowed a trip outside only once year - if at all. Their only taste of the formidable outside world was brought to them in the form of movies, with which they became obsessed and eagerly lapped up everyday. And if they weren't watching movies, they were re-enacting them with more skill, passion and intricacy than is probably normal for a regular child. However, the onscreen world wasn't enough for the brothers, who decided one day to break the house role and explore the streets of Manhattan for the first time on their own.
'The Wolfpack' is an incredible documentary from first-time director Crystal Moselle, who befriended the boys on their daring excursion in 2010. The film features footage from the brothers' many film re-enactments and re-tellings of their unbelievable story. Having won awards at Sundance, Edinburgh International Film Festival and Nantucket Film Festival, the film is scheduled to hit US theaters on August 21st 2015.
