Actors Nicholas Cage and Tye Sheridan and director David Gordon Green discuss their new movie 'Joe' in two new featurettes. They talk about casting the characters and the benefits of being a low budget flick.
'With this production it was a modest budget movie and we could take a lot of chances and we didn't have a lot of people breathing down our neck about budget and about responsibility; we could just make it passionately from the inside out', said Green. As for characterisation, Cage felt a lot of himself in the role. 'I didn't have to act; it was something where I could be naked as a presence on camera', he reveals. It is clear his co-star Sheridan felt much the same way: 'What Nick does a lot is that some of his personality bleeds into his characters and it's great when that can happen because he's such an interesting person to be around.'
