Scott Voss was a pretty well renowned wrestler when he was in college, however he couldn't be much further away from his time as a student in his physical peak as he is now a bored 42-year-old biology teacher in a failing high school.
When budget cutbacks look like they might force the cancellation of extra-curricular programmes, including the well-loved music program, it would result in the music teacher Marty being laid off, and a whole lot more for the already struggling school. In a bid to raise the money needed, and stop the ever-declining school falling further, Scott begins to raise money by competing as a mixed martial arts fighter to keep the program around. This means starting form the bottom and gradually making his way to the top, where he can compete for the biggest prizes on offer and being able to pay for the school's debts himself.
He might not have the biggest muscles or the meanest ring-presence, but Scott does have one of the biggest hearts around and the determination to save the school from oblivion. With the sexy school nurse behind him, and her heart on the line to win along with the potential prize money, Here Comes The Boom is a funny and endearing film that gives fighting teachers the thumbs up.
