Funnyman Steve Martin is set to return to the big screen as bumbling French cop INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU - thanks to top comedy screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel.
The acclaimed writers behind hits like Fever Pitch and ROBOTS are reworking a sequel script after landing the enviable reputation as Hollywood's "leading comedy script doctors," according to trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter.
Martin first portrayed Peter Sellers' comic creation in 2006, as part of an all-star cast, which featured Beyonce Knowles, Kevin Kline and Jean Reno.
Funnyman Jimmy Fallon has shown his support for Sir Paul McCartney during his bitter divorce battle with Heather Mills, by wearing a badge of the former beatle
The Fever Pitch star is a huge fan of the veteran English rocker and has been saddened by his high-profile acrimonious split from Mills
And, at an art gala at New York City's Whitney Museum on Monday (23OCT06), the comedian proudly showed off his MCCartney button on his jacket to photographers
Fallon said, "He's the best He's the one and only He's my man He's my favourite Yeah, I love Paul I've got to support him "
Ben Affleck, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jon Cryer are just a few of the celebrity names who have helped raise almost $3 million (GBP1.67 million) for children's cancer-fighting charity Jimmy Fund.

Particularly generous donations came from Donald Trump, who gave $60,000 (GBP33,350) and Boston Red Sox baseball owner JOHN HENRY, who donated $30,000 (GBP16,670).
Other names participating in the telethon were Fever Pitch film-makers PETER and Bobby Farrelly, and Massachusetts Senators EDWARD KENNEDY and John Kerry.

THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY directors PETER and Bobby Farrelly have won a Hollywood bidding war to adapt the hit French film THE VALET. The remake will be based on Francis Veber's hit film, which has grossed more than $17 million (GBP9.7 million) since its release in France three weeks ago (03APR06). The movie follows a hapless valet who is captured in a photo of a fight between a DONALD TRUMP-type mogul and his mistress, leading to all sorts of comedic entanglements. Four Hollywood studios were bidding for the rights to remake the comedy last week (ends21APR06), which eventually went to Dreamworks Pictures. This will mark the third film remake for the directors, who previously remade Fever Pitch (based on a 1997 British film centred on soccer) and The Heartbreak Kid (a remake of the 1972 comedy that had yet to be released).
Salman Rushdie is considered his main competitor with his recent release SHALIMAR THE CLOWN.

Film-maker Peter Farrelly has apologised to his beloved Boston Red Sox after preventing one of their players from claiming a New York Yankees out in a baseball game earlier this month (JUL05).
