Field Day 2013 - Preview

Field Day

Preview of Field Day 2013

With Field Day 2013 less than two weeks away, now seems like a good time to look at the 5 must-see bands of the festival.

After the success of the festival last year it was difficult to see how it could possibly be improved. As the line up announcements filtered through from Field Day HQ, it became clear just how special this year is going to be. A quite astonishing array of artists all playing in one field, on one day - what could possibly go wrong? Clashes, of course. The chances of you catching every artist you intended on seeing are slim, so here are the 5 must-see acts this year.

Savages
Arguably the most exciting band of 2013. Renowned for their extraordinary live performances, as demonstrated on Jools Holland a few months ago, Savages are one band you will not want to miss this summer. With their debut album having come out a few weeks ago, now's the time to catch them live. It will be an "I was there" moment.

Key Track: Husbands

Django Django
A year is a long time in music. Playing in one of the smaller tents at Field Day 2012, a relatively unknown band called Django Django stole the show with a breathtaking set. Since then, a Mercury prize nomination, headlining the NME Awards tour and a hugely successful debut album have all greeted Django Django who return to Field Day at the top of their game. Not to be missed.

Key track: Life's A Beach

Animal Collective
One of the most forward thinking, original and exciting bands of the past decade headline Field Day this year. Animal Collective are an extraordinary group of musicians who have remained ahead of the game since the release of their debut album 13 years ago. An Animal Collective live set is a truly unique experience and the booking is a stroke of genius from the organisers of Field Day.

Key track: Summertime Clothes

Everything Everything
Making their Field Day debut this year, Everything Everything are another band who come to life in a live environment. Debut album Man Alive signaled the start of something potentially special, but it was recent album 'Arc' that really announced the arrival of Everything Everything. An energetic live set featuring the most imaginative vocals you'll find all summer await anyone lucky enough to catch the band at Field Day this year.

Key track: Kemosabe

Chvrches
Django Django did it last year, could it be Chvrches turn to steal the show at Field Day? One thing's for certain, they have the songs to do it. The Glasgow based electropop outfit have had an astonishing few months and head into festival season as one of the most talked about live acts around.

Key track: Recover

Harry Moore
