The Dark Side? Star Wars fans are split as to the suitability of the franchise’s new home at Disney? What we do know is that there’s going to be plenty more Star Wars movies and it’s likely the creative minds behind recent hits The Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean and WALL-E may well come up with something special.

Oh, Sandy:  As Hurricane Sandy forced the cancellation of television shows and gigs across New York this week, there was one stoic New Yorker who wasn’t having any of it. Veteran host David Letterman went ahead with his late night talk show, welcoming guest Denzel Washington, though the pair chatted…alone.

Only Way is Up for Skyfall: Congratulations to Skyfall director Sam Mendes and Bond star Daniel Craig this week after news that the new movie took £20 million at the UK box office. It was the biggest opening yet for 007 and sets the movie up nicely for its US release next month.

Taylor Swift Performs in Times Square

Red Hot: Applauds must also go out to Taylor Swift, who’s managed to shift a stunning 1.2 million copies of her new album Red, in a week. It’s the biggest selling debut week since Eminem’s The Eminem Show sold a similar amount in 2002

Risky Business: A drunken neighbour of Tom Cruise will be pleased to hear the Hollywood star has decided not to press charges against him. An Australian model and reality star mistakenly wandered into the Top Gun star’s Los Angeles compound and was promptly given the Taser treatment!

Don’t Mess with the Lohan! Lindsay Lohan received a wave of generally unnecessary abuse on Twitter this week for telling everyone worrying about Hurricane Sandy to calm down. We’re pretty sure she, nor the vast majority of her critics, couldn’t have anticipated the destruction that Sandy has caused along the East Coast.

Cooper Trooper: We’re sure Anderson Cooper will bounce back after the cancellation of his chat show Live, this week. A tried, tested and trusted broadcaster, Cooper will no doubt return with something bigger and better.

Hacked Off! Gene Hackman sure told one aggressive homeless person who insulted his wife this week. As the man approached the couple shouting obscenities, the Oscar winner promptly gave him a slap across the face. We’re pretty sure he won’t try that again.

Under My Thumb: A double whammy of pleasing news for Rolling Stones fans over the past couple of weeks. First they announce four huge shows in London and New York before playing a tiny club in Paris, and now, Ronnie Wood announces he’s set to tie the knot once again!

Video of the Week: This week’s hottest footage comes from Rome, Italy, where Daniel Craig, the stunning Naomie Harris, director Sam Mendes and producer Barbara Broccoli gathered for the Skyfall photocall.
