Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz has revealed the reason behind giving his newborn son the middle name of Mowgli.
Wentz's wife, singer Ashlee Simpson gave birth to Bronx Mowgli Wentz in Los Angeles on Thursday, with the child weighing 7 lbs, 11 oz.
And according to new father Wentz, their son's unusual middle name has a simple explanation.
"The Jungle Book was something that me and Ashlee bonded over. It's a cool name," the musician told radio host Ryan Seacrest.
However, Wentz, 29, refused to reveal the reasoning behind his son's first name, famously a borough of New York City.
"We came up with the idea Bronx. We've been throwing [ideas] back and forth a while," he says.
"It's kind of cool to just leave the narrative what it is. People are stoked or p****d or whatever. And you're like, you know what: I don't think anyone really has the real story."
When asked if the baby's name was a joke, Wentz insisted: "No, no, no, it definitely is his name, but I don't think anybody knows what the real story is of why or how."
He also paid tribute to his pop star wife's handling of the birth.
"Right before she went into labour, I was like: 'Oh, my god, I think I'm having a heart attack.'
"My heart started beating real fast. You see your wife is in all this pain. And I don't know what's happening right now.
"She took care of me and made sure I was okay and then went into labour. That's why she's a saint."
Fall Out Boy's new album Folie A Deux is due to be released on December 16th.
