Entertainers have often granted interviews to Rolling Stone as part of an effort to alter their public image. Such was the case, for Example, back in the '70s when teen idol David Cassidy appeared nude on the cover of the magazine in a photo shot by famed RS photographer Annie Liebovitz. Such may now be the case with Jimmy Kimmel, whose late-night show moves to 11:35 p.m. on ABC next Monday. In an apparent attempt to position himself as an alternative to rivals Jay Leno and David Letterman, Kimmel is appearing on the cover of the magazine -- out today (Friday) -- as a plumber, wielding a wrench, with his trousers sagging half-way down his butt. The cover inscription reads, Here's Jimmy! A Very Stoned Encounter with Late Night's New Contender. At the beginning of the interview, Kimmel remarks, If we smoke weed right now, is that on the record? At which point, the article says, Kimmel pulled out a baggie bulging with buds the size of baby Brussels sprouts and began lighting up.
