British actor Ewan McGregor has slammed British Government-funded film organisations for refusing to support his latest movie.
The hunky star has battled to bring Young Adam to the screen after funding fell through and organisations set-up by the government to help homegrown projects declined to help.
And, according to McGregor, their attitude is crippling the British film industry.
He fumes, "If it was a lightweight romantic comedy, no problem, but if it's an edgy, visual sexy drama - as this is - then they don't want to know.
"There are people who are responsible for funding British work who were prepared not to see this film made because it didn't fit in with what a British film should be."23/05/2003 13:49
