Evelyn Lozada's divorce from football player Chad Johnson (formerly Chad Ochocinco) rivals Kim Kardashian's 72 day marriage to Kris Humphries. In fact, Evelyn Lozada and Chad lasted for an even shorter period of time: just six weeks, reports ABC News.
Lozada's attorney Michael Gilden said, "My only comment on the matter is that given recent events in my client's life, she has decided to file for divorce and move forward with her life". There were rumors of Johnson's alleged infidelity, though this is yet to be confirmed. Initially, there were plans for Evelyn and Chad to have their own VH1 show, following the former's appearance on 'Basketball Wives', however, those plans swiftly dissolved after a dispute over the weekend that led to Chad's arrest for domestic violence. In a statement made on Tuesday (August 14, 2012), Lozada said she was "deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me", adding, "It is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles. Domestic violence is not OK and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well". Reports had suggested that Johnson had head-butted his new wife after a dispute about his alleged infidelity.
Following Kardashian's farcical marriage in 2011, she and Humphries have only just faced off in court this week. Though the couple signed a rock solid pre-nuptial agreement, the basketball star reportedly wants to put "reality television" on trial.
